EDUCATION AWARD RULES
The Greater Pittsburgh Police Emerald Society will offer education awards for eligible student(s) for post-secondary education at an accredited college or university, vocation school or business school. The intent of this program is to encourage ongoing post-secondary education, promote community involvement and encourage active membership in the Greater Pittsburgh Police Emerald Society.
To be eligible a student must be a dependent child, step-child or grandchild of an Active member. The member must be a paid-up member 90 days prior to application deadline and must have attended at least one meeting or function within the previous year.
The applicant receiving the award must be a high school graduate currently enrolled full time in a university, college, vocational or business school.
Applications must be postmarked no later than November 1st and mailed to the person listed on the application. Verification of full time enrollment must accompany the application.
Four $500 awards will be selected by drawing from all eligible applications. The drawing will be held at the annual Christmas Party. The award winners will be paid in December.
Applications may be picked up at any regular Emerald Society event or meeting except on the St. Patrick’s parade day. Applications will also be available at the Emerald Society website, www.gppes.org. Applications will not be mailed.
All of the above requirements must be met at the time of the drawing or the award will be forfeited.
